Border Collie

Bred as a working dog to help herd sheep, the border collie is among the smartest canine breeds, though it doesn’t always show on standardized intelligence tests, which typically are an indication of test preparation rather than actual aptitude. Such tests also tend to be biased against dogs who are more visual-kinesthetic learners.

Pit Bull

These stocky, powerful dogs are infamous for their highly dangerous owners, who are given to fits of unexpected rage when provoked. Sturdily built and known for their tenacity and ferocity, pit bull owners are prone to violence and should be avoided, especially if they feel threatened.

With big, floppy ears and slobbery tongues, basset hounds have an innate awareness of when their owners are having a romantic dream.
